The new Australian government’s plan to cut foreign aid

The new Australian government (elected last month) plans to cut foreign aid by $4.5 billion over the next four years. In my view, this is unacceptable. But I am aware that people do have different opinions on this issues.

Here I would like to point Christians to the following discussions.

(1) Two blog posts from Micah Challenge Australia

“Is aid being streamlined, sidelined or undermined?”

“Who pays when aid is cut?”

(2) One reason why some people think that foreign aid should be cut is that Australia as a high national debt. This article at ETHOS Engage Mail may be of interest.

“Forgive Us Our Debts? National Debt in Christian Perspective”
